Photographer Gets Photo of the Moon from 100,000 Images
Miscellaneous / / August 23, 2022
The photo is great for viewing craters.
Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy has published detailed images of the moon in its first quarter phase. The main photo is notable because it was obtained by combining about 100,000 individual shots.
By combining so many photographs, McCarthy managed to get rid of the blur that is usually present in the frame due to the earth's atmosphere. The colors you see are as close to real as possible.
According to the photographer, the Moon in the phase of the first quarter is best suited for viewing craters, the details of which are perfectly emphasized by long shadows. Full size images are only available through McCarthy's website, listed on his Instagram profile*. Of course not free.
