The series "Lyusya" is a bad comedy in which Kozlovsky talks to a column

On July 14, the Premier streaming service showed the first episodes of the Lucy series about the friendship between a developer and a voice assistant. Production was handled by Good Story Media (Correction of Punishment, Call DiCaprio, The Eighties). The director of the project was Ivan I. Tvardovsky, known for the films "Correction Class", "Zoology". "Lucy" became his debut series.

Danila Kozlovsky, Christina Asmus and Daria Savelyeva starred in the lead roles, and Daria Blokhina, the well-known parody of Alice from Yandex, played the role of the voice assistant.

The series tells the story of a programmer named Senya (played by Kozlovsky). He is modest and shy, which is regularly used by others. One day he is attacked by hooligans right in front of his family. Humiliated and insulted, the hero tries to understand why he can't fight back. Suddenly, the voice assistant "Lucy" begins to give him hints - Senya himself developed it. "Lyusya" becomes the programmer's personal assistant and helps him change.

What is bad about the series "Lucy"

Despite great ambitions, Tvardovsky's project turned out to be rather chaotic. The series has a huge number of problems that stem from the script.

Bad side characters

There is not a single character in Luce that you can empathize with. The evil and rude world that surrounded Senya is trying with all its might to harm the hero. The wife is aggressive, the boss constantly rushes with projects, new acquaintances lead to stress. Everyone seems to hate each other, everyone lies to each other. It's not terrible when there is a normal, solid protagonist, but here another problem arises.

Repulsive protagonist

Logically, the viewer should sympathize with Seine. But his image is too superficial, undeveloped, and therefore rather repulsive.

A programmer in shorts and a plaid shirt, listening to Tim Belorussky in the car - everything that characterizes the hero. From outward signs, it is obvious that Senya is infantile, but there is not a single scene where his infantilism would be shown on the positive side. It would be possible to ask Kozlovsky to play football with the children, but even that is not there.

The inconsistency of the hero is not subject to logic. When he sees cocaine in the heroine Christina Asmus, he makes huge eyes and starts to stutter. However, in other scenes, the boss constantly offers him drugs - these situations do not surprise Senya. He tells everyone around that you need to be kind (almost Leopold the Cat!), but he constantly lies and betrays.

However, perhaps it is better not to speak of inconsistency. Senya does everything with the face of a fool who does not understand anything. This is not the naive silliness you see in Forrest Gump, The 40 Year Old Virgin, or The Truman Show. In Luce, the protagonist is just stupid.

Inappropriate reduced vocabulary

"Lucy" follows the trends of Russian TV series, so the characters are constantly swearing. But the problem is not even in the presence of obscene vocabulary, but in its quantity. Some of the dialogue loses all value as the characters get so caught up in swearing that they forget to provide any information. It looks like the teacher left the classroom.

Where there is no swearing, there is inappropriate prison jargon. In one of the scenes, the wife calls Senya a “terpily”, and it begins to seem that she will soon send him “to the bucket”. Loving family, no less.

Bad Dialogues

Dialogues allow you to feel what a big hole is in the place where the characters should have experiences and emotions. In the bar, Senya says to her interlocutor: “Recently I saw a conference. They discussed where people get injured. We have ceased to create warm relations. Many years of pain have made us totally closed. Especially from ourselves."

If you think about these words, you can go crazy - this is the nonsense of a madman, and "many years" does sound brilliant. By the way, Senya says all this to Kristina Asmus, who had taken drugs a minute before. She makes it clear with all appearance that she is “high”, does it as clumsily as possible, but the guy does not notice this.

In every conflict, the characters either lash out or utter words that are irrelevant to the situation. For example, when hooligans attack Senya, he whispers: “The truth is on my side” - this seems to be a serious scene, but something awkward comes out.

Actor play

There are two excellent actors in the series: Maxim Vitorgan, who has a very small role, and Daria Savelyeva, who plays Senya's wife. They have bad and boring characters, but the actors make their characters more voluminous through skill.

But Danila Kozlovsky frankly overacts. He seems to have a very hard time portraying an insecure person. Still, he made the Chernobyl series after the HBO project of the same name, so he doesn’t understand exactly what uncertainty is.

Christina Asmus also overacts, but she can be understood: she needs to give life to such a flat and boring character that she throws all her strength into expression. It looks like a diligent actor playing the role of a tree in a play.

What is good about the series "Lucy"

Despite a lot of shortcomings, Luce has a couple of good components that make viewing less unpleasant.

Interesting camera work

The series "Lucy" is very well filmed. The cameraman Artyom Emelyanov did his best. He shuffles different tricks one after the other and does it well. Static frames alternate with zooms, the "live" camera seems to be spying on the characters, which is rarely used in such projects.

In general, Emelyanov turned the shooting into a demonstration of his own abilities.

Unusual scenery

If you do not listen to the speech of the characters, you will not be able to guess in which country the events of the series take place. The design of housing and office, the streets, the clothes of the heroes - everything is universal, albeit a little toy. The artists have created an interesting image that is nice to look at. It does not affect the story in any way, therefore it is valuable in itself - at least something is done well.

Is it worth watching the series "Lucy"

There are no funny jokes and interesting characters in the series, it's hard to sympathize with the main character. The creators have focused on drama and plot, but these components can not cope. "Lyusya" looks like an unfinished project, the main problems of which are contained in the script. So it is unlikely that the series will be remembered after “many years”.
