Speedtest: MegaFon has the fastest mobile internet in Russia

Company Ookla updated the results of the Speedtest Awards - in fact, the rating of the quality of mobile communications. Within its framework, the operator with the best coverage and speed of mobile Internet in Russia in the first half of 2022 was named. Data from 6.3 million tests conducted by users of 1.3 million devices were taken into account.

In all respects, MegaFon has become the undisputed leader. The coverage rating, which takes into account the number of 100 × 100 meter sites where operator services are available, and evaluated the quality of communication. As a result, MegaFon scored 619 points, followed by MTS with 562 points. Beeline and Tele2 have 459 and 410 points, respectively.

In speed tests, MegaFon outperformed other operators both in terms of incoming and outgoing connections: the median values ​​were 25.01 and 9.09 Mbps, respectively. The median delay for all four operators is almost identical: 32-34 ms.

Interestingly, in Moscow, MegaFon had a mediocre outgoing connection speed: an average of 8.5 Mbps, while MTS and Beeline had 11.59 and 15 Mbps, respectively. In St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk "MegaFon" the outgoing speed of "MegaFon" is higher.

It is noted that all tests were carried out by ordinary users of Speedtest for the first two quarters of 2022 (from January to June inclusive).
