Drinking coffee daily prolongs life

It is better to drink it with sugar - but most importantly, in moderation.
Moderate consumption of unsweetened or sweetened coffee is associated with a lower risk of mortality. This is evidenced by the results of the study, publishedAssociation of Sugar-Sweetened, Artificially Sweetened, and Unsweetened Coffee Consumption With All-Cause and Cause-Specific Mortality / Annals of Internal Medicine in the scientific journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
Previous observational studies already assumed there was an association between coffee consumption and a reduced risk of mortality, but they did not distinguish between drinking coffee with sugar, artificial sweeteners, and no additives at all.
This omission was corrected by scientists from the Southern Medical University (China). They analyzed data from the UK Biobank database to assess the association of coffee consumption with overall mortality as well as cause-specific mortality.
The study included data from 171,616 Britons (mean age 55.6 years). These are people who did not have cardiovascular disease or cancer at the start of the study at the start of the study.
The researchers found that over a 7-year follow-up period, volunteers who drank any amount of unsweetened coffee had a 16-21% lower risk of death than participants who did not drink coffee.
It also found that participants who drank an average of 1.5 to 3.5 cups of sweetened coffee per day had a 29-31% lower risk of death than those who did not drink coffee. At the same time, an average of one teaspoon of sugar was added to one cup. For coffees with artificial sweeteners, the data were too scattered to draw specific conclusions.
Summarizing the data obtained, the scientists came to the conclusion that most coffee lovers do not need to exclude the drink from their diet. However, you should be careful when drinking high-calorie coffee drinks with a lot of sugar and syrups.
