Thanks to the unusual design, access to the panel is maintained even with the lid closed.
Corsair, known for its PC accessories, has announced its first laptop: the 16-inch Voyager AMD Advantage Edition, which is positioned as a device for gamers and streamers. This computer is likely developed by the Origin team, which was bought by Corsair in 2019.
The main feature of the novelty is the 10-key Elgato touchpad (the manufacturer calls them S-keys), which can be configured to control the Stream Deck. Unlike Apple's Touch Bar, this bar does not replace function keys, and thanks to the laptop's special design, the bar remains accessible even when the lid is closed. The panel is also equipped with a charge indicator, which will be convenient for every user, not just streamers.
It is assumed that the Elgato panel will be used to control the stream (volume control, background switching on a green screen, etc.), but it can also be configured to work with video conferencing applications like Zoom.
Other than that, it's just an ordinary powerful gaming laptop. He received a 16-inch screen with a resolution of 2K (2560 x 1600 pixels, 16:10 ratio) and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. The 1080p webcam, judging by the renders, can be closed with a built-in shutter. This solution is more convenient than stickers from AliExpress, since it will not harm the laptop when the lid is closed.
The full-size keyboard features low-profile Cherry MX mechanical switches and customizable RGB backlighting. Inside - Ryzen 7 6800HS or Ryzen 9 6900HS, graphics in both cases are Radeon 6800M. Depending on the configuration, the amount of RAM (Corsair Vengeance DDR5) can reach 64 GB, the maximum SSD capacity is 2 TB.
It weighs 2.4 kg and has a maximum thickness of 19.9 mm. Details about the autonomy of the device are not yet available. The set of connectors is impressive: a pair of USB-C 4.0 (with Thunderbolt 3 support), one each USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 and USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, as well as an SDXC 7.0 card reader and 3.5 mm headphone jack. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 modules are provided for wireless connection.
The laptop was priced at $2,700 and $3,000 for starting versions with Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9, respectively, additional configurations and a release date have not yet been specified - but The Verge notesthat the company promised to send them this laptop for review in July.
