McDonald's may return to Russia under a different name

The network of fast food restaurants "McDonald's" may resume work in Russia under a new brand. About it report Izvestia, citing two sources in the food market who are familiar with the situation.

It is noted that the company has not yet made a final decision on the return, but it will have to be made soon: now more than 800 restaurants of the chain are idle in the country. According to the source of the publication, "The company intends to save the funds already invested in the Russian Federation, which went to the development of a restaurant chain." Reopening under a different name is one option to do so.

Recall that on March 14, the company announced the closure of more than 800 restaurants in Russia. The decision was explained by "operational, technical and logistical difficulties" preventing capabilities to “guarantee smooth operation, maintenance of key assortment, high standards quality." At the same time, 62,000 employees of closed establishments kept their wages.
