Villeneuve found a worthy replacement.
The 'Dunes' prequel series that HBO Max ordered back in 2019 is finally here found director. The first two episodes will be handled by Johan Renck, best known for the TV seriesChernobyl", who also directed three episodes of Breaking Bad and Vikings.
Renk will also serve as an executive producer on the project, tentatively titled Dune: Sisterhood. The series was previously supposed to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, but he's busy working on a sequel feature film for Warner Bros.
The series will take place 10,000 years before the events of Dune. It will tell about the Harkonnen sisters who fight against the forces that threaten the future of mankind and found the legendary sect known as the Bene Gesserit.
The series is co-produced by HBO Max and Legendary Television (the latter is also working on new Dune films). Variety previously reported that Diane Ademou-John will be the writer, showrunner and executive producer of the series. Other executive producers include Denis Villeneuve, John Speights, Scott Z. Burns, Mark Friedman and Matthew King. On behalf of
Frank Herbert the trial will be overseen by Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert.Read also🧐
