They can even be used for foldable and foldable readers.
E Ink, a pioneer in digital paper technology, has announced the release of E Ink Gallery 3. This is a new generation of ePaper colored paper for e-readers.
E Ink Gallery 3 is based on the E Ink ACeP Advanced Color ePaper platform. The full-color gamut in it is achieved through an ink system with particles of cyan, magenta, yellow and white.
The update time for black and white image was only 350 milliseconds (ms), in fast color mode - 500 ms, in standard - 750-1000 ms, and the best color is achieved in 1500 ms. This is a significant improvement over the first generation E Ink Gallery, which had a black and white refresh time of 2 seconds and a full color refresh of 10 seconds.
In addition, Gallery 3 will have a resolution of 300 pixels per inch (ppi), up from the earlier 150 ppi, and an operating temperature of 0-50 degrees Celsius, similar to black and white e-readers.
E Ink Gallery 3 will also support pen input in black and white with the addition of several other colors and a 30ms refresh time. Also, such a panel will be complemented by a new E Ink ComfortGaze backlight without a blue glow harmful to the eyes.
It will be possible to use such screens even in foldable gadgets, which makes possible the release of a new type of hybrid devices. For example, in the format of a drop-down book.
When the release of the first devices with new E Ink Gallery 3 screens is planned, it is not specified yet. Manufacturer announced only about the demonstration of panels at several upcoming exhibitions in Asia.
