Compared to analogues made of metals, such a frame is lighter, cheaper and more resistant to shock and rust.
Omsk Polytechnic Design Engineer Pyotr Melnikov showed prototype of the CareBike bicycle, the frame of which is made from 200 recycled plastic bottles.
According to Peter, such a frame is much lighter than the usual metal one and has a number of additional advantages. – it is resistant to impact, rust and UV rays, and is also subject to secondary processing.
CareBike is positioned as an example of rational consumption. To make its frame, plastic is crushed, cleaned of excess debris, melted, and then poured into a special mold and cooled.
No cutting, welding, cleaning or even painting required. All this allows you to significantly reduce production costs and reduce the final cost of the product at the output. The average life of the frame can reach up to 10-15 years, after which it can be handed over for recycling.
With this project, we want to draw the attention of the world to the problem of ecology and the importance of recycling plastic. For example, in Sweden 98% of waste is recycled, while in Russia it is about 1%.

The project is currently seeking funding. In the next 2 months, it is planned to release several pre-production samples, which will take into account all the shortcomings of the prototypes.
