Anheuser-Busch InBev International Brewing Corporation (AB InBev) announced about the desire to leave the Russian market by selling its stake in the Russian company AB InBev Efes. The likely buyer is the main partner, the Turkish company Anadolu Efes, which owns a controlling stake.
AB InBev plans to stop all investments in AB InBev Efes, as well as revoke the license to produce and sell Bud beer in Russia. How the departure will affect other controlled brands has not yet been specified.
In addition to Bud, AB InBev Efes produces beer Stella Artois, Brahma, Corona Extra, Velkopopovický Kozel, Hoegaarden, Staropramen and Löwenbräu. The company has 11 breweries in Russia.
The share of the international AB InBev in the world market is now about 28%. According to preliminary estimates, its monetary losses as a result of this operation in the first quarter alone will amount to $1.1 billion.
