Podcast "Listen, it's easy": who is Schrödinger's cat and what happened to him in the end
Miscellaneous / / April 23, 2022
Let's see if he survived or not.
In scientific circles, Erwin Schrödinger is known for formulating the wave equation, developing the wave-mechanical perturbation theory, and solving a number of other specific problems. And those who are far from researching complex physical phenomena know the scientist thanks to a thought experiment with a cat.
Schrödinger imagined a cat sitting in an opaque box. There is also a dangerous mechanism. If it works, it will kill the animal. The device is designed in such a way that the probability of its activation within one hour is 50%. That is, during this period of time, an imaginary pet will either survive or die - there is no third option.
So, Schrödinger mentally closed the cat in this box and waited 60 minutes. And then he asked himself what condition the "experimental" was in now. How the experiment ended and why it was needed at all, you will learn from the new episode of the podcast.
