Thing of the day: PYKRS - smart jacket with heating and fall detection

An interesting new project has appeared on Kickstarter: the PYKRS jacket, which offers a number of useful features up to synchronization with a smartphone.

The basic Lite version does not have a smart filling, but offers a three-layer membrane structure that protects against wind and rain, but at the same time allows moisture (such as sweat) to escape. It offers a detachable hood suitable for helmet use, soft neck lining, fully sealed seams, breathable armpit openings, an internal smartphone pocket with headphone cable routing, two chest pockets and two ordinary.

The standard PYKRS offers a heating system that is controlled by a smartphone. It consists of three modules that can maintain the temperature inside the jacket in the range of 35 to 55ºC.

PYKRS Pro offers fall detection, just like the Apple Watch. If the sensors detect an impact, the user will receive a notification on their smartphone asking them to confirm that they are okay. If you don't reply within 3 minutes, pre-selected contacts will receive a message and be able to get GPS coordinates to direct assistance.

Also available is the PYKRS X-Pro, which adds four lights, two each at the front and two at the back. The manufacturer claims that this feature is intended for cyclists. Also, with its help, you can attract the attention of rescuers in an emergency. In theory, this will also be useful for those who hitchhike.

The electronic systems are powered by a pair of 4,000 mAh external batteries (supplied with the jacket). They will last for 4 hours of heating system operation or 8 hours of backlight use.

All electronics inside are able to survive washing, with the exception of batteries - but they can be pulled out and used as flashlights or power banks.

The PYKRS Lite jacket without heating and synchronization with the application was priced at 349 euros, the heated version costs 399 euros, with a fall detector - 559 euros, with illumination - 699 euros. As part of crowdfunding, all versions available up to 50% off on Kickstarter. Orders are scheduled to ship in December 2022.
