Russian mobile operators warned of upcoming communication problems

Due to the departure of Western vendors and the depreciation of the ruble, the cost of telecom equipment has already increased by 40% and may increase by another 80%. The reserves of telecom operators to ensure the operability of the infrastructure will be enough for four to six months. The lack of reserves may also affect the technological communication networks of railway transport and the fuel and energy complex. To maintain the health of the infrastructure, it will be necessary to curtail all development plans and use previously purchased equipment solely for the purpose of maintaining the stability of the network, the document says RSPP.

It is also indicated that if current trends continue within six months, the industry may lose up to 30% of highly qualified specialists. The general deterioration in the financial position of telecom and broadcast operators may lead to reductions in management staff by 15–20% by the end of 2022.
