Miscellaneous / / March 15, 2022
Masked iPhone unlock, Universal Control, new emojis and more.
On the night of March 15, Apple began sending out new versions of operating systems for its smartphones, computers, watches and set-top boxes. The updates are small, but some useful changes in them definitely deserve attention. Here are the main ones.
iOS 15.4
The key innovation is the ability to unlock iPhone with Face ID while wearing a mask and without connecting to an Apple Watch. This feature works on iPhone 12 and newer models.
In the US, users also have access to innovation Tap to Pay - with it, the iPhone can act as a terminal for accepting contactless payments by touch.
Back in iOS 15.4, they added a number of new emojis, accelerated the work of commands, and provided the ability to select a new Siri voice - gender neutral (for now only in the US).
macOS 12.3 and iPadOS 15.4
Mac and iPad finally have a Universal Control feature that allows you to use one cursor and a keyboard to control a computer and tablet that are logged into the same account iCloud.
Minor bugs have also been fixed in both operating systems and Safari has been speeded up.
watchOS 8.5
37 new emojis are now also available on the watch, which watch owners can use, for example, in iMessage.
watchOS 8.5 also lets you confirm purchases and subscriptions on Apple TV and offers audio cues in Fitness+ to complement the movements shown during workouts.
tvOS 15.4
On tvOS, Apple updated the Spatial Audio controls and also added support for gender-neutral Siri voice, just like on HomePod.
All the latest versions of operating systems can already be downloaded and installed on devices. To do this, go to "Settings" → "General" → "Software Update".
