How to disable contact synchronization in Telegram

If you have a large list of contacts and you actively use Telegram, you probably often receive messages that one of your contacts is now in the messenger. Instead of deleting a contact from Telegram every time and clearing the chat, you can simply turn off synchronization with the phone book. Here's how to do it.

Telegram for iPhone

1. Go to the right tab of the messenger "Settings".
2. Go to "Privacy" → "Data Management".
3. Move the switch next to "Sync Contacts" to the inactive position.

Telegram for Android

1. Click on the icon with three stripes to open the side menu.
2. Go to "Settings" → "Privacy".
3. Scroll down to Sync Contacts. Move the slider next to it to the inactive position.

How to delete synced contacts

If you want to clear your Telegram contact list, open the "Data Management" section on iPhone or "Privacy" on Android and click on the "Delete Imported Contacts" button. Please note that after that, the messenger will display the username that they themselves indicated for their profile: the name you entered will no longer be pulled from the smartphone.
