MenubarX lets you view any web page right from your Mac's menu bar
Miscellaneous / / January 31, 2022
If you open a new browser window several times a day just to google something small, or keep a pinned tab with an Instagram feed, exchange rates or a music player - the MenubarX app is right for you like it.
With this little utility, a mini-browser will appear in the menu bar of your Mac. In it, you can open any sites and conveniently view them using various settings, including window size, User Agent, auto-update frequency, and more.
To open the page, just click on the application icon and enter the URL in the address bar. After that, the site will open in a small drop-down window. From the context menu, you can set its size by selecting a template from one of the popular devices.
In addition, changing the User Agent is available to force sites to open in versions for the appropriate devices. It is also possible to set the frequency of automatic page refreshes, which will be useful for keeping track of changing data such as exchange rates.
For ease of navigation, there are bookmarks that are added in the Bookmarks section and displayed there. The Start Page item launches the interface for adding a new page with a URL string, and Open in Browser, as you might guess, opens the site in the default browser.
If desired, it is easy to open several pages at once in MenubarX. Each new one is added to the New Tab menu and displayed in a separate window. From the same menu, an unnecessary site can be closed.
In the settings, you can activate autoplay, as well as make favicons monochrome, color, or disable them. It also unlocks the Pro version of the program, which removes the limit on the number of tabs and bookmarks. It is distributed as an in-app purchase, but is currently available for free.
MenubarX is convenient to use for quickly viewing social networks, tracking quotes, managing Spotify web player, search for information and other similar trifles when you only need a browser for a couple seconds.
