Huawei introduced a "smart" backpack for schoolchildren
Miscellaneous / / January 18, 2022
With GPS tracker and LCD screen.
The Huawei 9um Smart Positioning backpack is harder to forget at home than a smartwatch or smartphone. It will also come in handy in those schools where children are forbidden to wear smart gadgets.
Backpack GPS tracker defines location in open spaces with an accuracy of 5CEP (circular error probable - probable circular error) - about 5 m. In buildings, the accuracy will be lower, but this is comparable to smartwatches and smartphones.
The smart backpack is powered by HarmonyOS Connect, a platform Huawei for Internet of Things solutions. It can be configured in the Smart Life proprietary application, for example, to define three safe zones for the child: home, school, sports section. When a child enters or leaves these areas, a notification will be sent to the parent's smartphone.
The location of the backpack is automatically checked every two minutes. You can also track it manually and make sure the child is safe. Location data is stored in the device memory for up to three months.
On the front of the backpack - where the lock is usually located - there is a 1.54-inch color screen with protection against dust and drops of water according to the IP67 standard. You can display the current time, class schedule or other data that will be automatically updated on it.
Otherwise, Huawei 9um Smart Positioning is similar to a regular school bag - with a soft ergonomic back, wide shoulder straps and an additional handle for carrying on the shoulder. It is suitable for children up to 135 cm tall.
Huawei 9um Smart Positioning is not yet available for sale. Developers invite testers who can buy a backpack for 699 yuan (≈8400 rubles) and share their impressions. The price will go up later.
