A young Hispanic woman will avenge her father's death.
The CW is planning to reimagine the classic masked folk avenger - Zorro. In the new series directed by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn) and his sister Rebecca, the main character will be a woman. About it writes Deadline.
It is reported that this is the next incarnation of the project, which was developed on NBC during 2020-2021. Showrunner will be Sean Tretta (Mayants). He is co-writing the script with Robert and Rebecca, who will also serve as executive producers.
The protagonist under the mask will be a young Hispanic woman seeking revenge for the murder of her father. To do this, she joins a secret society and takes on the image of the criminal Zorro.
In the past, Robert Rodriguez participated in the filming of The Mask of Zorro (1998). It was he who chose Antonio Banderas for the main role, but he himself later left the project. He is currently the executive producer and director of the Disney + series "Boba Fett's book».
It is also worth noting that in parallel with the new television adaptation, a full-length film about Zorro is being developed, which has nothing to do with the series. By data Collider, it will be a reimagining of the classic Guy Williams show that ran from 1957 to 1959. Wilmer Valderrama will play the main role in this project.
