It drowns out everything except the voices of people.
An interesting new project has appeared on Kickstarter - a miniature gadget called Silenton. It adds a noise canceling mode to wireless headphones and speakers that filters out ambient noise while still allowing you to communicate with people normally.
The gadget is a light (16.5 g) clip that must be fixed as close to the face as possible: on a mask, hat or shirt collar. It connects to a smartphone and headphones via Bluetooth and acts as a buffer that blocks everything unnecessary both when listening to audio and during a conversation, so that the interlocutor hears only your voice.
The built-in microprocessor, using AI algorithms, analyzes the surrounding sounds to remove everything except the voice of people. The device is characterized by low power consumption: one charge lasts for 23 hours of continuous use, while recharging takes only an hour.
According to the creators, Silenton lets the voices of people nearby, blocking the sound by 25 dB. The device works on the same principle as noise canceling in conventional headphones: it emits sound waves with the same amplitude as the surrounding noise, but in an inverted phase.
Silenton was priced at $ 149 (≈11,000 rubles), but during the Kickstarter campaign, the gadget can pre-order for 89 dollars, or about 6 600 rubles. Orders are scheduled to ship in March 2022.
