ZeroBlur extension will hide personal data on web pages in real time
Miscellaneous / / December 16, 2021
A real find for those who often show the screen on calls and are afraid to expose confidential information.
There are no special problems with blurring names, passwords and other data on screenshots and videos - any editor allows you to do this. But what if you're showing content in your browser in real time during a video meeting, stream, or support session? In such cases, ZeroBlur will help out.
This small extension allows you to blur certain elements in the layout and specified areas on web pages to hide confidential information. To apply the effect, simply open a site or web application, then click the ZeroBlur icon in the toolbar and select Edit Blur.
A small pop-up menu will display control buttons on the right. Everything is simple here. The first one at the top is responsible for selecting an element on the page, and the second one for selecting an area. The plus and minus signs adjust the degree of blur, the trash can removes the specified blurred fragment, and the cross closes the menu.
Once you set up areas to be blurred, they will persist and appear even if you refresh or reopen the page. At the same time, all functions of the site or application continue to work as planned, which is very convenient for demonstrations.
The globe button activates a useful feature that hides specified areas only on a specific open site or on all pages in a domain.
It is noteworthy that once smeared elements do not need to be re-configured. By clicking the Enabled toggle switch, you can disable hiding, and then turn it on when you need it.
ZeroBlur is completely free and available for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
