He will not be able to offend anyone, but it is difficult to believe in it.
Replenishment in the world of humanoid robots. A new product from the British company Engineered Arts named Ameca is already conquering the Internet - but not everyone admires it.
The fact is that, unlike the same Atlascreated by Boston Dynamics, the new model does not specialize in the ability to perform tricks and pass obstacles, but it recreates realistic gestures and facial expressions during communication. And she does it so well that she causes the sinister valley syndrome in the audience. In other words, something that is not human, but moves very similarly, which causes discomfort.
However, there is not much cybernetic skin and muscles on it: they cover only the arms and face, while the rest of the “body” does not try to hide that we are just looking at a pile of metal and motors.
In fact, the purpose of Ameca is simple and harmless - to entertain people at conferences and other events. The robot has practically no artificial intelligence: it is able to reproduce only pre-prepared phrases and movements, the principle of its operation is in many ways similar to chatbots.
