It looks like the complaints have been heard.
Microsoft faced a big wave of discontent after complications the process of changing the default browser in Windows 11. It looks like the corporation has heard disgruntled users: in the new beta build of Windows 11 for Insider program members, it has become much easier to change the default browser.
German edition Deskmodder informsthat in the build Windows 11 Build 22509 in the settings there was a button to select the default browser, while in the current stable version it is necessary choose the default application to open each type of file or link (and the list is rather big: HTM, HTML, PDF, SHTML, SVG, WEBP, XHT, XHTML, FTP, HTTP and HTTPS).
Third-party browsers will still only prompt you to become the default browser once, and if you miss this opportunity, you will have to go into the settings - but now, at least, you will not have to spend a few minutes.
While this would end one of Microsoft's most vexing strategies of getting Windows users to stick with Edge, it wasn't the only one. For example, earlier this week, users
started to complainthat Edge discourages from downloading Chrome.
