How to prevent Apple Watch from automatically launching apps with audio
Miscellaneous / / November 01, 2021
Spotify and YouTube won't bother you anymore.
By default, Apple Watch automatically turns on playback control menus when you watch or listen to something on your linked iPhone. Not everyone likes this function, because it is almost guaranteed that you have a smartphone in your hands, and it is more convenient to control playback through it. Fortunately, disabling autoplay is very easy.
For this:
- Click on the Digital Crown to open the list of installed applications.
- Find and run "Settings".
- Go to the "Display and Brightness" section.
- Move the slider next to "Autoplay applications with audio" to the inactive position (it should turn gray).
You can also configure this through the Watch app on the iPhone. The idea is similar: you need to find the "Screen and brightness" section in the "My watch" section and move the slider next to the "Auto start applications with audio" item to an inactive position.
After that, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and other apps will stop launching on the watch after you start playing on iPhone. To control sound from Apple Watch, click on the play icon at the top of the watch face - the corresponding application will open.
If necessary, you can re-enable the function using the same slider.
