It looks like the writer is getting more involved now.
On the YouTube channel of the major Polish science fiction festival Pyrkon a large interview with Tomasz Bagiński, executive producer of The Witcher series. The video is completely in Polish, but enthusiasts from the portal Redanian Intelligence translated fragments in which Bagiński tells about the participation of the writer Andrzej Sapkowski in the work on the show.
Even before the release of the first season, showrunner Lauren Hissrich and Sapkowski himself announced that the writer decided to distance himself from the series, giving the team complete creative freedom. But now, it seems that the principle of their relationship has changed a bit, as the author asked to share the details of the plot with him before the release of each next season:
He wants to know what will happen on the show so that there are no surprises. […] During a pandemic, it is quite difficult. Previously, I tried to regularly travel to Lodz in order to personally meet with Sapkowski, and I hope that in the future I will be able to return to this. But even now, we continue to tell him about the plans, because he is the most important person for the universe [The Witcher].

Further, the interviewer clarified how the discussion of the series with the author usually goes, whether he proposes any changes or additions when he learns about the plot of the adaptation. To this, Bagiński noted that Andrzej believes in the freedom and autonomy of those who adapt his stories, and therefore leaves the decision up to them.
However, these are significant changes from the first season. Two years ago Hissrich during an interview notedthat Sapkowski did not know anything about the series in advance:
Sapkowski doesn't want to see the ingredients for the soup. He wants to taste the ready-made soup. He has access to the script and other materials, but he decided not to use it.

Baginsky did not specify what the changes in the relationship between the team and the author are connected with, and whether it is possible that Sapkowski will make changes to the plot of the series in the future.
