Leaks and design rumors have been confirmed.
Google suddenly announced Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones. The company has not yet shared all the details about the new products, but showed their design and talked about the main feature. It was the first proprietary Tensor SoC.
The characteristics of the processor are also kept secret so far, but Google has allocated a module in its composition for executing machine learning-based operations and Titan M2 coprocessor for superior hardware security level.
Tensor SoC was created to understand how people use their phones today and how they will use them in the future.
The developers noted that the proprietary processor improves all existing Pixel features and introduces new ones. Its benefits will be seen in everything from a completely revamped camera system to speech recognition and more.
According to Google, these smartphones "are changing the way it is to be a Pixel." The new design combines the aesthetics of software and hardware with Android 12. The enclosures of the devices have glass backs and a metal frame. The Pro version has a polished finish, while the base Pixel 6 has a matte finish.
Advanced cameras and optics are too large to fit in a traditional square module, so Google is implementing a completely new approach to design - now the cameras are placed on a separate bar across the entire width of the rear panels.
TheVerge journalists, who were able to get to know the devices better, confirmed some of the characteristics:
- The Pixel 6 Pro will have a 6.7-inch QHD + display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is slightly curved around the edges. There are three cameras on the back: a new wide-angle main sensor that captures 150% more light, an ultra-wide-angle module and a telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom.
- The base Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch FHD + screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. Its screen is perfectly flat. The cameras are the same, but there is no telephoto lens.
Google will tell more about smartphones at a special presentation at the end of the year.
The material is being supplemented.
