Google Reader is back as a new feature of the Chrome browser
Miscellaneous / / August 01, 2021
Chrome 92 introduces an experimental feature on smartphones that lets you keep track of your favorite sites in a separate feed, just like Google Reader, the long-discontinued RSS subscription service.
Article titles will be displayed as a general list with covers on the Google home page. Previously, only icons of visited resources and recommendations were displayed there, but now there will be a second tab "You are subscribed".
To subscribe, you need to open the required site, click on the ellipsis in the upper right corner and select "+ Subscribe" at the bottom. For this button to be displayed, the function must be activated manually using the command chrome: // flags / # web-feed in the address bar. Next, you need to restart Chrome.
You can unsubscribe from news in the same menu by clicking on the ellipsis or through the settings of the feed itself. In the latter case, you need to click on the gear, go to the settings and disable unnecessary subscriptions.
Note that not all sites are displayed correctly in the feed yet. The function is being tested and tuned before the final release.
