Moscow court banned Samsung Pay from working in Russia

The decision may take effect in 30 days.
The Moscow Arbitration Court satisfied the claim of the Swiss Squin SA against Samsung, effectively banning the operation of the Samsung Pay payment service in Russia, as well as the import of devices with its support into the country. About it writes Kommersant.
Samsung is accused of using the invention under the patent No. 2686003 without the consent of the copyright holder ("Squin SA"). The patent describes an invention “for making an online payment using a buyer's mobile device and a merchant's cash register system”. The Korean giant can appeal the decision within 30 days, otherwise it will go into effect.
Samsung said that it is studying the documents, but no changes in the company's operational activities are currently planned. According to lawyers, now the manufacturer can not only challenge the decision in a higher court, but also challenge the patent itself for the lack of novelty in the invention.
While this patent is valid, Apple Pay and Google Pay services are also under threat of ban in case of legal dispute.

If the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court nevertheless comes into force, Samsung will have to stop preinstalling the Samsung Pay service on its smartphones in Russia.
