7 unexpected ways to use fabric softener

If the fabric softener for some reason is not suitable for washing, it will come in handy for other purposes and perfectly replace special products that were not at hand. Here's what you can do with it.

1. Deal with toilet odors

Fabric softener can easily replace the "pills" or "balls" that are attached to the rim of the toilet. Add one full cap of the product to the tank and the water will smell pleasantly of "alpine freshness" or "sea breeze". It may also turn into pale blue, pink or purple tones, depending on the color of the conditioner itself. True, the agent will have to be added to the tank every few days - its effect will end when you drain all the water.

2. Remove carbon deposits from the pan

Pour hot water into the dish, add a tablespoon of fabric softener and leave to soak for at least a few hours, or better overnight. After that, it will be much easier to clean the pan and you will not have to rub and scratch it.

3. Wash wooden surfaces

Wood is a more delicate material than, for example, tiles, linoleum, plastic and metal. Therefore, aggressive cleaning powders, disinfectants and similar agents can damage it. And fabric softener helps to gently clean wooden tables and countertops, chairs, cabinets, shelves. Put a little of the product on a sponge, wipe the dirty areas and rinse with water.

4. Remove water stains

White spots that appear on taps, vents, shower doors and other surfaces in contact with water are extremely annoying. Conventional cleaning agents usually fail because of the limescale in the water.

To remove limescale, special products, for example, with citric acid, help. But if there are no such at hand, use fabric softener. Using a sponge, apply it to a faucet, tile or other surface, leave it on for a few minutes and wipe it off with a damp cloth. The stains should disappear.

5. Remove stickers from glass

It doesn't matter which ones: the factory ones that remained on the new windows, or the automobile ones that you are tired of. Conditioner will help soften the paper and dissolve the glue. Moreover, without unpleasant odors, which are usually left by special solvents.

Mix fabric softener with warm water in a 1: 1 ratio, apply liberally to the sticker, and allow time for the paper to soak properly. Then carefully remove the sticker with a scraper. This will be much easier than it sounds.

6. Freshen up curtains and other textiles

Curtains perfectly collect dust and absorb odors, including not the most pleasant ones like tobacco. At the same time, not all curtains can be simply taken and shoved into the washing machine whenever you want - some require dry cleaning.

To quickly freshen them up and get rid of the unpleasant odor, add a couple of caps of tea conditioner Spoon baking soda into a spray bottle and spray the resulting curtain solution as needed.

You can do the same with upholstered furniture, cushions and any other home textiles.

7. Tidy up the carpets

Fabric softener will help soften the pile and give it a shine, eliminate unpleasant odors and generally freshen the carpet a little.

Mix a couple of caps of the product with warm water, pour the solution into a spray bottle, spray the carpet and wait about five minutes. Then remove the product with a steam cleaner or a damp sponge.
