Create a video of Mack happening on the screen is almost as simple as take a screenshot. To this end, as part of OS X and has a suitable program - QuickTime Player. However, there is one catch: the sounds in the recording time of publish applications that do not will be written - in the captured file, you will have only a picture. Blooper very annoying, but it's easy to fix.
This is the second time Apple has surprised me strange limitation in its software. You can, of course, to take the side of "pisalku screencasts," but I prefer to squeeze out of the staff to the maximum. Add a sound recording to QuickTime Player can be in just four simple steps.
1. Download Soundflower program
This free extension system which provides more flexibility in configuring the sound information exchange between Mac applications. download zip-archive with the distribution, Mount the DMG-image and set Soundflower on your Mac.
2. Redirect sound from the audio output on Soundflower
Open the "System Preferences" and go to the module
Sound. tab Exit instead of port Headphones select Soundflower (2ch). Actually, that's enough now to QuickTime Player videoskrinkast recorded with sound. There is still one big but: now the sound will not be heard in the recording time. ;) Fortunately, it is fixable.
3. Turn on the sound for monitoring in recording time
Through Launchpad run Soundflowerbed utility (it was established with Soundflower) - in the menu bar next to the clock, you will see an icon-vosmilistnika flower. Click this icon, and in the first section of the menu that appears, under the item Soundflower (2ch), click Built-in Output.
4. Adjust the settings screen recording
The system is ready, now only remains to deal with the QuickTime Player. As the audio source program is able to receive only a microphone and line input. Value Soundflower expansion in that it is able to "pretend" microphone, which sees QuickTime!
In the main menu, select File → New entry screen image (Or click ^⌘N keys). In the resulting QuickTime Player window, click on the small arrow to the right of the record button, and in the menu Microphone select Soundflower (2ch). All you can start recording - full sound that different programs will be publish at this time, QuickTime Player will fix. :)
Schematically, the process can be represented as a simple infographic:
In the first part - a standard screencast recording process via the QuickTime Player: during the recording of the sound we hear in the target file - silence. Then we set Soundflower - and during the recording can not hear anything, but in the target file will have all the sounds available. Finally, duplicating audio stream from Soundflower on Soundflowerbed, - include sound and during the screencast recording.
And that's the main question for Apple: it was difficult to incorporate this functionality into itself QuickTime Player? :)
