Windows 11 may receive support for Android applications
Miscellaneous / / June 10, 2021
Rumors about this appeared last year.
On June 24th Microosft will hold a big presentation of the next generation of Windows. According to rumors, the system update will be so large that the platform itself will be called Windows 11. And among the main improvements will be not only reworked interface, but also full support for Android applications. About it writes MSPoweruser portal.
The source refers to changes in the latest version of the Windows subsystem for running Linux applications. There were two mentions of Android emulator behavior. These entries are probably for developers only, as is the entire subsystem. However, journalists note that there is a chance to see something more than the next changes in the development log.
Microsoft could well use emulation in the Windows subsystem as the basis for porting native Android apps to Windows and the Microsoft Store. Back at the end of 2020, we went gossipthat the company is already working on this.
It is possible that this is exactly what the head of Microsoft Satya Nadella hinted at during the Build 2021 developer conference. At the time, he noted, "We will soon be sharing one of the most significant Windows updates in a decade to open up more options for developers and content creators."
According to him, Windows will become the most innovative, modern and open platform for creating, distributing and monetizing applications. The appearance of Android programs in the MS Store could well justify such loud statements.
