Life hack: how to gradually introduce eco-habits into your life
Miscellaneous / / May 31, 2021
New rituals cannot become part of our life at the snap of our fingers. But if you do everything gradually and at a comfortable pace, you will definitely be able to pump your eco-awareness.
Try to develop one new habit every week. For example, today you put an eco-bag in your backpack and only shop with it. And next week, look at the packaging and try to buy only food that can be recycled.
It may take longer for the habits to take hold. But the frequency here is not so much important as the regularity: add new rituals every two weeks or once a month, focusing on your feelings and comfort.
You can start with your everyday shopping:
- Does a vendor on the market offer free packages? Try to refuse them. It can be difficult to say no to someone who is trying to show concern. But if you thank the salesperson and ask them to put the groceries in your bag, nothing really bad will happen.
- Do you have 10 minutes left in the morning before work or school? Prepare a snack and take it with you in a container. This way you don't have to buy disposable food for lunch.
- Going to the supermarket for liquid soap? Choose a large package and a beautiful reusable dispenser. This way you use less plastic and make washing your hands more comfortable.
Most importantly, don't berate yourself for mistakes. If you once forget your eco-bag and buy a package, disaster will not happen. But it is better if it is made of paper or recycled plastic.
To live more environmentally friendly, you do not need to give up the usual level of comfort. Subscribe to Instagram account of the project "League of Zero Waste", and eco-habits will easily and imperceptibly enter your life. And you will always be aware of the world's economic news, learn more about reasonable consumption and a healthy lifestyle.
The Zero Waste League project was launched at the initiative of Danone. It is attended by non-profit organizations and representatives of big business. The goal of the project is to reduce the amount of waste in everyday life.
