This is an improved version of the Pocketbook 740.
Pocketbook showed an updated version of the popular InkPad e-reader. The third generation is known in Russia as the Pocketbook 740, the "numbered" name of the new fourth version has not yet been reported.
It uses a 7.8-inch touch screen with electronic ink E-Ink Carta 1200, a resolution of 1872 × 1404 pixels (300 ppi). There is a backlight with adjustable color temperature. It is noted that the refresh rate of the display has increased by 20% compared to the previous generation, and the contrast by 15%.
The processor is not specified, the amount of RAM is 1 GB, built-in 32 GB. The reader works on Linux 3.10.65 - this is an assembly of 2015 that is undemanding to hardware.
There are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 modules. There is one speaker, a 3.5 mm headphone jack is present.
A 2,000 mAh battery will provide up to three weeks of battery life - including thanks to Linux energy-saving mechanisms. USB-C is used for recharging.
The gadget weighs 265 grams and is protected from moisture according to the IPX8 standard.
Sales of Pocketbook InkPad 4 will start at the end of April. In the US, the novelty will cost $289 (≈23,600 rubles).
