Microsoft will change a number of standard Windows icons for the first time in 26 years
Miscellaneous / / May 07, 2021
They have not been updated since Windows 95.
Back in March Microsoft showed updated icons of the root folders and the recycle bin of Windows 10, and literally today on the Web there was information about the upcoming update of the standard system icons.
We are talking about the oldest icons that have not changed since the era of Windows 95, including icons for memory, disk drives, hibernation, network, and so on. Their updated versions of the Windows Latest portal noticed in the part of the shell32.dll file in the preliminary version of the OS. This bio-library DLL is a key part of the Windows shell that displays icons in various dialog boxes of the operating system.
These changes, designed to improve consistency in the visuals of Windows, are part of an overhaul of the system design as part of the upcoming Sun Valley update. These innovations are expected to arrive with the Windows 10 21H2 update due to arrive in October.
Except icons, Sun Valley will bring Floating interface, new ribbon widgets and news, as well other improvements.
