The Finder tab, perhaps one of the best innovations in the OS X Mavericks, who have been waiting for all users has been so many years. The tabs allow you to simultaneously view multiple directories in the file system of your Mac, in a Finder window. When used correctly, the tabs, you can avoid piling up windows, in case we need to work with several folders. But if you are still allowed cluttering workspace lots of Finder windows, there is a great feature that will help clean up the mess.

This is done very simply:
- in the Finder, with a few "window" open windows open the menu;
- select the item "Merge all windows";
All folders open in a separate window, they will be merged into a single window with multiple tabs. If necessary, you can always add another tab to the desired directory, simply by pressing the "+" (or with the help of hot keys ⌘T).
This approach is probably familiar to you via your browser, which also allow you to combine separate window and move tabs between windows. For convenience, you can assign a hotkey for windows combining functions.
Assigning a hotkey for combining all windows
If you use Windows association often, it makes sense to add to this action hotkey. As you know, in OS X, you can assign a keyboard shortcut, for almost any actions performed through the application menu. To do this, you need to know only the exact name of the desired menu item to us. The procedure is very simple and looks like this:
- launching the system settings and go to the "Keyboard" section;
- open the tab "Keyboard shortcuts";
- press the "+" button to create a new shortcut;
- in the sidebar, choose the «App Shortcuts», and from the drop-down list, select «Finder.app»;
- in the name of the menu write "Merge all windows";
- as hot keys specify any combination, I chose ^⇧⌘M (from the English. Merge - combine);
After that, you will not have any time to open the menu and look for the coveted item, simply press the key combination selected, in our case - ^⇧⌘M.
Tabs - one of the most useful features of OS X Mavericks. If you do not have the habit of using them, I think to hurry to do it. Try it - you might like!
