Miscellaneous / / April 11, 2021
We will tell you about everything that can be activated, changed or disabled.
1. Set wallpaper
The easiest way to customize your lock screen that comes to mind first.
Choose your own photo or an image from the iOS collection
As wallpaper, you can set both a static picture and an animation that will "come to life" when you click on the display. Both can be selected from the standard iOS collection or photo gallery.
To do this, go to Settings → Wallpaper and click Select New Wallpaper.
Choose one of the categories and find a suitable image.
See how the wallpaper will look on the screen. Turn off perspective if necessary, then click Install and select a screen.
Create your own animated wallpaper
If you do not have enough standard live wallpapers, then you can easily make your own from any live-photo. It's very simple.
Open the photo in the Photos app, click the Share button, and select Set as Wallpaper.
Scale the picture, make sure Live Photos is enabled. Click "Install" and select a target screen.
Keep in mind that the animation will only work on the lock screen - you'll have to enjoy static wallpapers on your desktop.
Set GIF as Wallpaper
Found a funny GIF and want to use it as a wallpaper? No problems. To pull off such a trick, you will need to use the Giphy application to convert GIF into live photos, and then follow the already familiar algorithm.

Install and run Giphy. Find an interesting animation, bring up the menu.
Select Convert to Live Photo and then Save as Live Photo (Full Screen) to save the animation to the standard gallery.
Open the GIF in the Photos app and install as wallpaper, as described in the previous paragraph.
2. Set up auto-lock
The iPhone and iPad display automatically dims and locks after three minutes of inactivity. This saves battery power and prevents accidental taps, but a period of three minutes is not always convenient. Sometimes it is necessary not to turn off the screen at all, and in cases where the battery is no longer new, on the contrary, it is better to reduce the interval to one minute.
To change the auto-lock time, go to "Settings" → "Screen and brightness" → "Auto-lock" and set the desired period, from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Or disable the option altogether.
3. Hide widgets
Via widgets on the lock screen, you can access your personal information. With the default settings, swiping to the right on the lockscreen opens widgets even on the locked screen without Face ID, Touch ID and password entry. But this is easy to fix.
Go to Settings → Face ID & Passcode (Touch ID & Passcode), find the Lock Screen Access section, and turn off the Today toggle switch.
4. Hide the content of notifications
Anyone can also read your notifications. If this does not suit you, then proceed as follows.
Go to "Settings" → "Notifications" → "Thumbnail display" and set the option "No blocking" or "Never".
In the first case, a preview of notifications will appear only when you look at the device or touch the Touch ID sensor with your finger. In the second, they will always be displayed in a short form with the name of the application, the number of messages and the time.
5. Customize Siri Suggestions
iOS analyzes how we use the device and offers to perform certain actions depending on the time of day, location and other context. If these recommendations on the lock screen annoy you, do this.
Go to Settings → Siri & Search, and under Siri Suggestions, turn off the On Lock Screen toggle switch.
If desired, the recommendations of the virtual assistant can be disabled not completely, but only for individual applications.
Just find what you need on the same screen, open its settings and turn off the "Suggestions from annexes».
6. Disable Siri
In addition to prompts, the voice assistant, when the screen is locked, can call a contact, show the calendar and do much more. If you are not satisfied with this, you can completely turn off access to Siri on the locked screen.
To do this, open "Settings" and go to the "Siri & Search" section. Deactivate the Siri with Screen Lock switch.
7. Use instant notes
A sudden idea can be immediately written down without wasting precious time on unlocking the device and launching notes. On iPad, you can simply tap the dimmed Apple Pencil display. On iPhones and tablets without a stylus, there is another way.
Go to Settings → Notes, scroll down and open Notes on Lock. screen ".
Select the Always create a new note or Go back to the last note option. In the latter case, you can even make some settings.
After that, just call the "Control Center" and tap on the corresponding icon to instantly create a note.
8. Turn on the weather display in the morning
The following function will help you save some time in the morning. Instead of opening the application "Weather»Or a widget, you will see a short forecast for the day right on the lock screen the first time you pick up the gadget after sleeping. To make it work, do this.
Go to Settings → Do Not Disturb, turn on the Scheduled toggle switch, and set the desired rest period.
Return to the main settings page and go to Privacy → Location Services.
Find "Weather" in the list of applications, open it and set the "When using. applications or widgets ".
9. Disable USB Accessory Lock
If you often connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer and you are annoyed by the prompts to enter the password to unlock the accessories every time you connect, you can very easily skip this step.
Go to Settings → Face ID & Passcode (Touch ID & Passcode), find the USB Accessories toggle switch in the list and turn it on.
10. Upgrade your Touch ID
If your iPad or iPhone has a Touch ID sensor, you can expand its capabilities by adding twice as many fingerprints as available by default. This will be useful for registering all 10 fingers at once, separate fingerprint data for wet hands. You can also add fingerprints of a loved one to the database so that he can use your device.
There is a simple trick to get around the limitation. You need to write two fingerprints in one slot: the first at the beginning of the setup, and the second when you scan again, when the system asks you to take the gadget more conveniently. The process is described in detail in a separate article.
