The market for wireless headphones is often replenished with interesting solutions from little-known manufacturers. One of these is the Mifo O7, a model from China that combines a convenient form factor and very high quality sound. But should you choose them over the popular AirPods Pro or Samsung Galaxy Buds +? Let's tell you in order.

Appearance and equipment
Although the Chinese manufacturer has moved away from direct copying, the design of the Mifo O7 is clearly inspired by old Bang & Olufsen headphones. Even the logos have some similarities.
The workmanship is impeccable. The earphones are made of matte plastic; there is a leg with charging connectors at the bottom of the case.
The charging case is made of metal and has a magnetic cover. At the end there is a USB ‑ C ‑ connector and an LED ‑ indicator, inside there is another indicator with three diodes showing the remaining charge. The case is very compact, it is convenient to carry it in the pocket of tight jeans.
Thanks to the leg headphones easy to get out of the ears, but there are questions about the landing. The casings are thick, which can be difficult for those with small ears.
Another problem is the selection of nozzles. With many third-party models, the earbuds simply don't fit in the case, so you'll have to make do with standard accessories and, if possible, not lose them. In addition to the attachments, the kit includes a USB ‑ A - USB ‑ C charging cable.
Connection and communication
Responsible for pairing is the Qualcomm QCC3020 chip with Bluetooth 5.0 support. To activate, just open the case and touch the headphones. At the same time, both channels are paired in parallel and independently of each other - problems with desync and latency in TWS headphones are a thing of the past.
Occasionally, strange noise similar to grinding noise appears in one of the channels. As it turned out, sometimes other users of Mifo O7 also encounter this, while it is not possible to trace the pattern. It is good that the interference rarely occurs and quickly disappears by itself.
The "range" of the Mifo O7 is excellent: up to 20 meters in open areas. In room the indicator is more modest, especially if there are interior partitions in the signal path. There are no complaints about microphones in headset mode either.
Control
The weakest point of the headphones is the touch control. On the outside of the housings there are touch-panels that register pressing. One touch on the right earphone increases the volume, on the left - decreases. Double-tapping pauses the track, resumes playback, or accepts an incoming call. When pressed three times, the next or previous song is switched on, depending on the earphone.
We complained about touch controls in Galaxy Buds +, however, after interacting with Mifo O7, they are ready to take the words back: here it is much worse. The sensor works with a delay, and sometimes does not read the press at all. Sometimes, on the contrary, the panel becomes sensitive to any slight touch. The volume goes down every time you adjust the earpiece in your ear.
Sound
Mifo O7 are built on armature-type emitters, which is not typical for wireless headphones: usually such drivers are installed in expensive in-ear models. For each channel of the Mifo O7 there are two emitters: one works in the low and medium frequency band, the second is responsible for reproducing high frequencies.
Another feature of Mifo is support for the aptX audio codec. Usually headphones of this form factor work only with AAC or SBC codecs, which negatively affect the signal quality, but save charge. We'll talk about autonomy later, but now it's time to find out what the above characteristics mean in practice.
The first thing to note is the clear and legible mids. The headphones do an excellent job with the transmission of vocals, do not distort the timbre of the voice and work out both the chest base and the head high notes.
With tools, everything is fine too, especially with guitars and keyboards. Mifos are good at playing fast, at least in the midrange. Strikes on strings do not spread over time, which is important for energetic rock and metal. Guitar riffs keep their shape, distortion sounds very "tasty".
Treble is another strong point of the Mifo O7. There are no gross distortions in them, cymbals do not crumble into a bunch of dirty overtones, winds also reproduce naturally. High-range sound delivery is fatigue-free and versatile.
All this allows you to listen even to what other wireless headphones cannot transmit. For example, the progressive jazz metal Panzerballett with a lot of instruments and a fast pace. Or a symphonic soundtrack from the last "Mad Max». Or even the hardest metal core Silent Planet.
Nevertheless, there is something to complain about: the low frequencies are slightly boomy. This does not interfere with most tunes, but on high-speed blast-beats, you get the feeling that the headphones are about to break into a buzz. In this case, the effect can spread to the lower mids, affecting the guitars.
It turns out to be a strange situation: in one track, the headphones demonstrate excellent speed and intelligibility, and in the next, the magic disappears. For this, several factors must coincide: for example, very fast drums and low chords of the rhythm guitar.
An effective way to reduce distortion is to turn down the volume. The earbuds surprisingly do not lose their punch, while the bass control is significantly improved. In addition, noise isolation allows you not to twist the volume in most situations, with the exception of listening In the underground.
All in all, the Mifo O7 is a superb sounding wireless headphone that doesn't fail even on tricky tunes. But they also have their limits, so they will not become "killers" of high-quality wired models.
Autonomy
The capacity of the batteries inside the earbuds is 40 mAh, and inside the charging case is 350 mAh. The declared operating time from one make-up is 7 hours, the case is enough for three more recharges. During testing, the Mifo O7 withstood 4 days of active use with listening to music, watching videos on YouTube and talking on a headset. The result is good, especially considering the aptX audio codec. A full charge from the mains takes 1.5 hours.
Outcome
Mifo O7 - headphones with their flaws. You can scold them for a long time for inconvenient control, remember about strange signal interference and unoriginal design. But when it comes to sound, this model has practically no competitors. And for the sake of this, you can put up with all the inconveniences that arise during use.
The price at the time of publication of the review is 10,900 rubles.
