Apple and Google have removed Fortnite from their stores. But you can download the game without them - Lifehacker
Android Ios / / January 05, 2021
On August 13th, Fortnite added the ability to purchase in-game currency via Epic Direct on smartphones. The latter allows Epic Games to receive payments from players directly, bypassing Apple and Google services, which traditionally take a commission on all purchases.
This innovation did not suit the company, and they removed Fortnite from their stores. Epic Games immediately filed took them to court and launched a campaign in social networks FreeFortnite, which calls for fighting Apple's monopoly. It is unlikely that the game's developers expect to win in court, but they will definitely provide PR for Fortnite.
Since the game cannot be found in the App Store and Google Play now, it will have to be downloaded in non-standard ways. Here's how to do it.
How to download Fortnite on iOS
At the moment, only those who have previously done it through the App Store can download Fortnite on iPhone and iPad. To do this, you need to go to the store and go to your profile by clicking on the avatar in the upper right corner.
Next, open the "Shopping" section and type "Fortnite" in the search. The App Store will display the game even though it is actually not in the store. Download and run - everything should work.
How to download Fortnite on Android
In the case of Android, everything is much simpler, since the Google system allows the installation of applications from any source. To download the game you need to go to special page the Epic Games website from your Android smartphone and download and install the Epic Games service to get started.
The system may ask you for permission to install applications from unknown sources - confirm the action. Then just open the Epic Games program and select Fortnite - all you have to do is click on the yellow Install button.
