What if the ears pop on a plane

Whether you're flying on a vacation or a business trip, laying the ears when you change the height can cloud journey. How to handle this? About candy and chewing gum all know. If you need a more efficient way, here's our short board.
The flight can turn into torture: Due to the pressure drop when climbing or descending air plane in the inner ear may be too much pressure on the eardrum. Up until the damage.
In the normal structure of the sinuses is usually enough to make a couple of swallowing or opening your mouth.
But if the gap is too narrow eustachian tubes (due to inflammation in the ear or due to physiological characteristics), the ears can lay pretty much.
In no case can not bite the bullet and endure the pain. This can lead to rupture of the eardrum!
Can help you:
- decongestants for nasal sprays better: xylometazoline naftizin, nesopin, adrianol;
- lozenges for the common cold - swallowing + release of the sinuses;
- special earplugs for overshooting (better to buy them in advance, as the airports are usually sold only the most conventional, inefficient).
But the most effective and safe means is one of the divers exercises - Toynbee maneuver:
- shut your mouth;
- pinch the nostrils with your fingers;
- make swallowing movement.
Unlike the better known Valsalva maneuver (when instead of swallowing need to exhale into the nose, which in itself may damage the inner ear), the method directly uses the muscles that open the Eustachian pipe. Repeat this exercise every few minutes during takeoff and landing, when you feel the mounting pressure in the ears.
