Every fifth Russian does not use the Internet

From 15 to 17 May, the Public Opinion Foundation conducted a telephone survey among 1,000 residents of Russia. It focused on the role of the Internet in the lives of Russians and their digital habits. Here is the main of report FOM:

• 69% of respondents have used the Internet at least once in the last 24 hours (at the time of the survey), and 22% have never used it.
• 51% of people use both mobile and home Internet at home. Only homework is preferred by 21%, and only mobile - by 27% (this and further questions were asked only to those who used the Internet at least once in the last month).
• 41% use the Internet to find out news and keep abreast of events, for 35% it is a tool for finding the necessary information, 28% need it to communicate with family, friends and loved ones.
• 73% of respondents believe that they use the Internet "as much as necessary." Another 17% admitted that they spend too much time in it.
• Over the past couple of months, 27% have spent more time on the Internet and 9% less. Another 63% did not notice any changes.

• Only 34% of respondents have ever ordered food or goods on the Internet, the remaining 66% have never done so.
• Only 11% of monthly Internet users ordered products on the Internet.
