How to prepare oyster mushrooms
Rinse the mushrooms thoroughly under running cold water. If there is any debris on them, remove it.
Separate the mushrooms from the lowest solid part of the legs - the place where they grow together. You can cut it or pull the oyster mushrooms off of it by hand, and then trim each mushroom separately.
For soup, salad, frying and freezing, cut the oyster mushrooms into pieces, especially if they are large. You can leave the mushrooms whole for pickling.
How much to cook oyster mushrooms
After boiling fresh mushrooms, you need to cook:
- for soup or salad - 15 minutes (although already fried oyster mushrooms are often placed in the soup);
- before marinating - 7-10 minutes (this is not always necessary, depending on the specific recipe);
- before freezing - 5 minutes.
These mushrooms are almost never boiled before frying. If you still want to do this, cook the oyster mushrooms for no more than 3-5 minutes.
Frozen mushrooms are boiled for 10 minutes after boiling. To fry them, you do not need to boil them first.
How to cook oyster mushrooms
Boil salted water in a saucepan at the rate of 1 tablespoon of salt per 1 liter. Do not add too much water as the oyster mushrooms will release liquid during cooking.
Add the mushrooms, wait until it boils again and cook for the required time. The fire should be such that the water boils a little. In the process, remove the resulting foam.
If you are making a soup with oyster mushrooms, cook them right away with the rest of the ingredients. That is, you do not need to boil them in a separate container.
