Paramount Pictures has announced that Francis Ford Coppola will completely restore the film for the 30th anniversary of The Godfather 3, as well as release an alternate version of the film. The latter will feature a new introduction, a different ending, music and order of some scenes. About it reports Deadline.
The new version of the film will be titled "The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone." According to Coppola, the changes in the picture will lead to a more appropriate ending to The Godfather. The film is due out in December, followed by a digital release and a refurbished version of The Godfather 3.
The third part of the film, released in 1990, was nominated seven times for an Oscar and the same number for a Golden Globe. However, despite this, the picture received much more restrained assessments and reviews than the first two parts. Her IMDb score is 7.6 against 9.2 and 9.0 for previous films.
