Game of Thrones showrunners Daniel Weiss and David Benioff filmed for Netflix, the sci-fi novel The Three-Body Problem by Chinese writer Liu Qixin. The show will be produced by Ryan Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Knives Out), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Brad Pitt.
The Three Bodies Problem has become one of the most popular science fiction novels in China. It tells the story of the brutal "Cultural Revolution" when signals were sent into space during a secret military project to contact alien intelligence. One of the signals was picked up by a civilization on the verge of death, and now the aliens are preparing to invade Earth. Upon learning of this, people were divided into two camps: some were ready to give this world to aliens, while others decided to fight for it.
Netflix commissioned the adaptation of all three novels that are part of the book series "In Memory of the Past of the Earth" by Liu Qixin. In addition to the Three Bodies Task, it includes Dark Forest and Eternal Life of Death. The timing of the release of the adaptation and the cast have not yet been specified.
