How to treat pharyngitis
First you need to figure out what exactly caused the sore throat. And then treat the underlying disease. Once you get rid of it, the pharyngitis will go away by itself.
Start by seeing a therapist. The doctor will listen to your complaints, ask about other symptoms, examine the throat and, depending on the results of the examination, make a preliminary diagnosis. Most likely, it will be ARVI. But the doctor may take a swab from your throat to check for or rule out a bacterial infection.
If we are talking about a viral disease, treatment is not required.
Sore throat caused by a viral infection usually lasts 5-7 daysSore throat and passes by itself.
But you can ease the discomfort: drink more warm (not hot!) Tea, gargle salt water, take an over-the-counter pain reliever paracetamol or ibuprofen.
Pharyngitis triggered by a bacterial infection will require antibiotic treatment. Your doctor will prescribe the most effective drug for you.
If the specialist comes to the conclusion that the pharyngitis is caused by other reasons - not viruses or bacteria, they will select another therapy for you. For example, your doctor may prescribe antihistamines (particularly if your throat is sore due to allergies) or recommend lifestyle changes (controlling indoor humidity, avoiding foods that cause heartburn, and so on).
