Apple Silicon - proprietary processor for Mac

Usually, WWDC is dedicated to operating systems and services, but in 2020, within the framework of this event, a truly unusual announcement took place - Apple introduced its own processor for the MacBook and iMac.
The manufacturer did not dive into the numbers and characteristics, but noted that its own development is designed to increase the performance of devices and reduce energy consumption. All of the company's applications, including Final Cut Pro, have already been adapted for Apple Silicon.
The new chips should be appreciated by professional designers and everyone who works with content. Photo and video processing will become even faster, because the chips will use artificial intelligence technologies and other developments familiar from the iPhone and iPad.
Apparently, the transition from Intel processors will be gradual, as developers particularly noted the ability to create applications that run on both Intel chips and Apple Silicon. And if developers are unable or do not have time to adapt their products, users will still be able to launch them. The Rosetta 2 framework is responsible for this. It will also allow you to run outdated programs and games. In other words, there should be no problems with compatibility.
And, perhaps, one of the most interesting features of the new processor - it allows you to run applications for iOS and iPadOS right out of the box. Just download your iPhone apps and use them on your Mac.
The first computers with an Apple Silicon processor are promised to be released before the end of the year. In the meantime, developers can get a Mac mini with an A12Z processor (familiar from the 2020 iPad Pro). It will allow already now to start adapting its products for new devices.
