HBO Program Director Casey Blois in an interview with Deadline reported, what "House of the Dragon" will air no earlier than 2022. According to him, it is too early to talk about the exact release date - the script is still in development.
Despite rumors of several TV series around the world of "Game of Thrones", "House of the Dragon" is the number one priority. The whole team is focused on this prequel, while other projects are only in the long term, Bloys added.
Previously, HBO purposefully worked on two series, the key of which was considered "Long Night". However, after the pilot episode, it was decided to abandon the show. One of the reasons is the lack of a book primary source, which significantly complicated the production of the series.
The greenlit Dragon House will tell the story of the Targaryen Dynasty and will be based on the book Fire and Blood. So far, ten episodes of the series are planned. The time frame for the events is 300 years before the start of the Game of Thrones.
