Corning unveils Gorilla Glass Victus
News Technologies / / December 29, 2020
Corning, a leading manufacturer of protective glass for mobile devices, presented Gorilla Glass Victus. This is a completely new coating that will not break when dropped from a height of two meters.
Corning has also been releasing new versions of Gorilla Glass over the past few years, but Victus has been called the biggest breakthrough in six years. This glass not only improves impact resistance, but also scratches protection. If you believe the manufacturer, now you don't have to worry that your smartphone will get scratched if it is in your pocket with keys or change.
Of course, the manufacturer does not guarantee 100% protection against damage. Small particles of dirt, sand and iron shavings can leave traces on the surface of Gorilla Glass Victus, so it is clearly not worth it to abuse it with testing the reliability of glass.
It won't take long for Victus to appear on smartphones. The new cover is reported to debut one of Samsung's smartphones in the coming months. It's easy to guess that we are talking about the model Galaxy Note20, which will be presented on August 5.
