The neural network showed a photo of Van Gogh and Napoleon

Reddit user @ basu68 became interested in creating photorealistic portraits of famous historical figures of past centuries. To do this, he feeds the preserved images of these people to the neural networks (mostly pictures, less often - photographs in poor quality). Unfortunately, GAN-networks do not know how to create clothes, so the author left it from the original paintings.

This is what Vincent Van Gogh probably looked like. The photo is based on his self-portraits, the only surviving photograph, in which the artist is 19 years old, as well as a portrait created by his friend John Peter Russell.

And this is the British Queen Elizabeth (based on her classic portraits).

Napoleon Bonaparte - also based on portraits.

This is a different kind of work: here the author partially restored the only surviving photo of Billy the Kid, one of the most famous criminals of the Wild West.

And this is what the Statue of Liberty would look like if it were alive. The sculptor most likely had a model for this statue, but it is not known for certain which girl "gave" her face to the famous cultural monument. She probably looked something like this.

Another statue that came to life is Michelangelo's David.

And here is a completely unexpected work: the restored image of Doomgay from the first Doom, which recently showed another neural network, in the finalization of the Artbreeder neural network.
