Thread: how to organize a wardrobe with clothes
Internet / / December 29, 2020
Twitter user Jelsamina (@Djelsamina) has launched a big thread on how to organize a wardrobe to be as comfortable as possible. She gave a lot of really useful tips to take on board.
It's time for a thread about organizing a wardrobe.
If you regularly put things in order, but the closet with clothes is constantly a mess, this means that your closet / storage place for clothes is poorly organized.
The thread will be big. Designing a comfortable closet will also be in it. pic.twitter.com/Tjl9hq3FOj- Jelsamina (@Djelsamina) May 27, 2020
The first and most painful step in any organization: throwing out the excess. Thousands of articles have been written on how to throw away excess clothes, and I will not repeat myself now. In any case, you need to take out all (absolutely all) clothes and put them in one place.

We divide a bunch of clothes into two: what suits the weather in the near future and what is designed for another season. If it is summer and heat, light things will fall into one pile, and down jackets, knitted sweaters and warm pants will fall into the other. Winter - on the contrary, sandals will go to wait for warmth.

We immediately deal with the off-season: it needs to be washed or dry-cleaned and stored only in its pure form. Wash and dry your shoes, or take them to dry cleaning, where they will do it for you. Adjust all clothes: check buttons, heels, zippers.

At this point, you can put aside those off-season items that you don't like, are small, or already look bad. They can be thrown away, but I advise you to look for where to drop them in your city. Popular: H&M accepts old clothes.

- Where to put unnecessary clothes if you don't want to throw them away
All off-season clothes, after putting in order, will go out of sight until better times. It is best to use fabric containers rather than plastic ones:

solid: https://t.co/fC7VFs4jGd- Jelsamina (@Djelsamina) May 27, 2020
It is better to store outerwear in fabric covers: https://t.co/QfeKDQDb24
Shoes in boxes: https://t.co/ZV340S9utb
Everything that is not needed now can be removed to storage locations, which I already wrote about in the storage thread https://t.co/Yf6Lbf2KJT- Jelsamina (@Djelsamina) May 27, 2020
There is a large pile of things left. Divide into categories again:
1) Outerwear
2) Accessories for outerwear (all sorts of scarves, gloves)
3) Shoes
4) Underwear
5) "Home" clothes
6) Accessories (belts, ties ...)
7) Socks, stockings, tights- Jelsamina (@Djelsamina) May 27, 2020
8) Leftover things that can be stored on a hanger - almost everything
9) The remaining things that cannot be stored on the hanger: knitted fabric (stretched). T-shirts and T-shirts that can be folded, jeans, thick sweatshirts also fall here. We will keep them on the shelves.- Jelsamina (@Djelsamina) May 27, 2020
The first key to ordering the closet: anything that can be hung on a hanger must be hung on a hanger. One thing is one hanger. The hangers should be the same size as the clothes. The heavier and tighter the clothes, the more solid the hanger should be.
- Jelsamina (@Djelsamina) May 27, 2020
Try not to use thin wire hangers as they damage your clothes. Ideal for wood, plastic or vinyl.
Fasten at least the top button - so the collar will not deform, and the thing will not cling when pulled- Jelsamina (@Djelsamina) May 27, 2020
If there is not enough space in the closet to hang everything, and there is no way to buy a new one:
1) Use tiered hangershttps://t.co/UI7lpJ0Xks
For trousershttps://t.co/Y4fiekGxx2
For shirts and blouses
2) Buy a clothes rack https://t.co/dSCnVrWxYG- Jelsamina (@Djelsamina) May 27, 2020
