DjVu compresses images efficiently, making it well suited for storing scanned documents. But the low popularity of this format can be inconvenient. Most universal readers do not support it, and there are not so many specialized readers.

Therefore, DjVu is often converted to PDF - the more common alternative format - even though the inevitable file size increase. Here's how to do it simply and efficiently.

The programs and services listed below do not recognize text, but only change the format of the document.

1. With PDFCandy

This service allows you to convert files directly in your browser without registering and installing additional programs. Just drag the DjVu document to the central area of ​​the page, wait until the end conversions and click "Download". The PDF file is downloaded to your device.

There is no information about any restrictions on the size of files or the number of conversions on the PDFCandy website. Note that the service has a paid version for Windows, but it is intended for other formats and does not work with DjVu.

2. With PDF2GO

Another online service for converting DjVu to PDF. Unlike the previous one, PDF2GO takes longer to convert and increases the size of documents more. But it retains slightly higher image quality and supports batch processing of files.

WinDjView is a DjVu file viewer, while Foxit Reader is a similar PDF program. Using these free apps in conjunction, you can easily convert documents on your PC, even without an internet connection.

Install both programs. Then start WinDjView and open the required DjVu-document in it. Click File → Print and assign Foxit Reader as the printer. You can select the entire document or just some pages, and adjust the format, resolution and aspect ratio of the final file.

Select a location on your computer and click "Print": Foxit Reader will convert and save the PDF to the selected folder.

4. With DjView

DjView software makes it easy to convert DjVu to PDF on Apple computers. No internet connection is required for this.

After installing the program, open the required DjVu element in it and click File → Export as → PDF. In the next window, specify the required pages or select the entire document. If necessary, click PDF Options and adjust the JPEG quality and Maximum image resolution of the final file.

When done, specify the target folder and click OK. The program will convert the file and save a PDF copy.
