Important nuances of choice, as well as tips to help make unripe fruit soft.
How to choose a ripe mango
Consider all of the following tips at once.
1. Touch the mango
The ripe fruit should be heavy and plump. Small and flat fruits are likely to have little pulp.
The mango should also be soft, but elastic at the same time. When pressed, a dent remains on a ripe fruit. However, the skin does not break, and the fruit itself does not lose its shape.
If the mango is tough, then it is not ripe enough.
2. Take a closer look at the peel
You should not rely only on the color of the skin. Depending on the variety, ripe mangoes can be green, yellow, bright red, and more.
Better pay attention to the condition of the peel: a good fruit has it smooth and shiny. It must be free of dents, scratches or any other damage.
But the dark brown specks on the skin are a great sign. This often means that the mango is ripe and tasty.
3. Sniff the mango
Smell the mango stalk. Ripe juicy fruit in this place exudes a pleasant sweet aroma.
If the fruit doesn't smell, it probably isn't ripe yet. And if it has a sour, fermented smell, then it has already deteriorated.

How to make mango ripe
The unripe fruit will soften if you just leave it at room temperature. This can take several days or a whole week (depending on the maturity of the fetus). Here are some ways to speed up this process.
1. Wrap the mango in paper
Place the fruit in a brown paper bag and not seal too tightly. If you put an apple or a banana inside, the mango will ripen even faster.
Instead of a bag, you can wrap the fruit with paper or newspaper. Leave some free space to prevent choking on the fruit.
2. Put mango in rice
Place the dry rice in a bowl and bury the mangoes there.
Thanks to this method, the fruit ripens quite quickly, so do not forget to check it for ripeness at least a couple of times a day.
3. Place the mango in a dark place
For this, for example, a wardrobe is suitable. Just put the mango in there and wait until it becomes soft and aromatic.
